I have off the I.G.I a christening for James Bradley for the 4th. June 1814 St. Martin's, with parents Benjamin Bradley and Ann. Is there any further information, address etc.?
Also, I have a John Bradley, born Deritend Birmingham about 1810, that I cannot find a christening for. I would have expected his christening to have also been at St. Martin's.
I would be grateful if someone could have a look for me.
Thank you
Ann

james son of benjamin and ann bradley bap. 4.6.1814 address just deritend occ. whitesmith

i will have a look for the other one

sorry cant find the other one. the records are quite difficult to read but i dont think its there.

Thank you so much Shera. That ties in well. I said I couldn't find a christening for John Bradley (my great great grandfather). Well John was also a whitesmith, as was my great grandfather and grandfather. And it looks very likely that he was the brother of James. They lived in Deritend for many years.
I very much appreciate that.

Shera,

And thank you for looking for John's christening. I may try St. John's Deritend next time I go to the library. But I'm fairly certain that he was the brother of James. Just trying to confirm Benjamin and Ann as John's parents.

All the best
Ann

on igi there is a birth of john henry bradley in bham b. 7.6.1807
bap. 20.9.1807 at bham carrs lane.

father benjamin mother eliza.

would this be a possible?

Shera,

I've looked at that one. But they never seemed to go for middle names. And on John's marriage he is just John Bradley, and also on the birth certificate for my great grandfather, father's name is just John Bradley. The other children of Benjamin and Ann are christened at St. Martin's. Also it looks as if Benjamin's wife was Ann Jones, and one of the witnesses at John's wedding was a Peter Jones. With the occupation of whitesmith for Benjamin and John, I think it makes it very likely that John's parents were Benjamin and Ann. And James is living with John on one of the cencus, although he is down as a visitor.

Thanks again
Ann
