I am trying to locate Jimmy Jackson who lived as a lodger in Avon Street, Birmingham with the O'keeffe family in 1938/9. or it may have been Gordon Street Lozells. Any information would be helpful.

The Jackson Family

Hi Astonion,

I have only just read your post, I really have given up trying to find James Jackson, the only information I have is that he worked at Wimbush factory in the 1930s he was about 19 years old, Scottish and was the boyfriend of my mother Edna May Morgan, and went back to Scotland before I was born. James was my father. If he is alive he would be in his late 80s. It really will be a miracle if anyone can remember him, he lived with my Mothers Mother as a lodger in Avon Street. He knew my mother was pregnant with me but his family sent him back to Scotland. that's all I know. You can ask this person from the Aston Jackson family, but I have drawn a blank every where I have tried. I tried the Birmingham Library to see if they had Wimbushes Factory records. also asked Carl if he could help, he kindly replied but I drew a blank. I cannot think what else to do.
I will look forward to any news that you may glean from your visit. Many thanks Astonion.
Pauline.

Hi Astonian,

Cheers,
Pauline.

Pauline, I think you will find that Avon St was in the Small Heath/Sparkhill area, near to the Mermaid Pub.
You may have been looking in the wrong place.
Good luck with your search.

Jackson Family.

Hi Postied,

Thank you for your kind interest,

I realise that Avon Street was around the Smallheath area of Birmingham, and that Jimmy Jackson worked at Wimbushes Factory in the same area.

I am hoping that there may be a connection with the Jacksons of Aston
even though it may be a long shot.

The problem is that I have only recently found out about my natural Father and at my age now time is running out, because he will be in his late 80s if he still alive. I would love to know about that part of my family, I may even have step brothers & sisters, who knows, I would not think under the circumstances that he would have told anyone of my existence, my Mother and Jimmy were very young and in those days it was a stigma to be an unmarried mother.

My Mother is still alive she is 87yrs old and has dementia, so it is very difficult for me to find out about him. the sad thing was she did say he was the love of her life.

Re: The Jackson Family

Hello Astonian, I have recently returned to the UK from 9 years in Spain, I hope that you are still using the site. Did you ever speak to that lady named Jackson, and did you manage to find out anything, I know it is several years ago now, but I still have not located James (Jimmy) Jackson's family. I live in hope.
Pauline.
