Brummie babby
Hi all, this is my very first post on the Birmingham history site, 3 minutes after being admitted to your august body. I have been searching for any information on a fairly distant ancestor Jackson, Nidd 1640 to 1655. He had three sons all baptised on the same day 01 January 1695. Their names George born 1679, Thomas born 1684 and Samuell born 1686. If anyone could shed any light on this entry in the "England,Warwickshire Parish Registers, 1538-1900.........1695, it would be greatly appreciated. As you may be able to see from my profile I am a de-tribalised Brumby, and live in South Africa. I am second generation South African my Grandfather and his father were gun works in the Birmingham Small Arms Factory, both were named William and were born in Birmingham on 11th April 1877 and 1842 respectively. This information I obtained from the Marriage certificate of William Jackson to Florence Julia Lunn, date 21 May 1899. Thank you for all the valuable information that I have already had from the site as a guest browser. Roy Lunn Jackson

Hi,
Welcome to the forum Buddy.
I have changed the title of the thread so that it makes searching and sorting on surnames easier. Let me know if you want the title modified to reflect particular members of the family and/or dates.

" Thanks for the prompt reply! I would be grateful for any information on the Jackson family who seem to have all been in the Gun industry. The maternal branch of my family were grocers from Birmingham circa 1870 to 1900.

Hi, Buddy is my sign-in name my full name is Roy Lunn Jackson. Lunn is my maternal grandmother's maiden name and she was from Birmingham and her family were grocers in the great city. Possibly in Bath Street. The family narrative on Florence Julia Lunn was that the family came from Bath, her marriage certificate state birth place as Birmingham. That is why I think their store was possibly in Bath street Birmingham.Should anyone have information that could shed any light on this matter please let me know. My grandfather's name was William born in 1877. His occupation was 'gun worker' according to his marriage certificate . Thank you.

Buddy, in 1901 William jackson and Florence with adopted daughter Sarah Exely age 4 are living in Lennox Street, he is a Gun Stocker
In 1901 Florence parents Athur charles Lunn and Julis are with daughter Annie in Denmark Street, he is an office clerk
In 1891 Arthur, Julia, Florence J and Annie are in Cowper Street , he is a Grocer.
In 1881 in Granville Street , a grocer.
Arthur Charles Lunn was born in Shuttington but the rest of the family in Birmingham.

Directories do not list Arthur Charles Lunn in 1873, but list him as being a grocer at 109 Granville St 1876-1880 and aa a grocer at 10 Granville St 1882-83. He is not listed 1884. The second address is definitely a different building and not a renumbering.

In 1881 at 107 Granville Street, appears to be a row of shops 104 Empty shop, 105 Butcher,106 empty shop,107 Arthur Lunn grocer,108 Bootmaker, and 109 appears to be a private dwelling.

Hello all, Thank you for your warm welcome and all the valuable information on my family. Should photographs of William Jackson and Florence Julia Lunn be of interest, I would be happy to send them to you. If anyone could help with information on Nidd Jackson and his wife Sarah from a marriage in Sutton Coldfield in 1635 on 15 June. My only information is from the registration of their christenings of their three sons. Although born years apart they were all christened on the same day, 01 January 1679. The names of the brothers : George born 1679 Thomas born 1684 Sameuell born 1686. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Buddy (Roy L. Jackson)
