Not at all. Curly is a nickname. I'm a 49er and have no ancestry in Birmingham, Dad was demobbed from the army and was offered a job at Fisher & Ludlow. He met my Mum in Wem and they settled in Mossvale Grove, Washwood Heath.

I'm about to modify a Google Earth capture, which I will post later. Sadly only from 1999, nothing earlier (the 1945 photo is VERY indisdinct)

hi curly
nice of you to come back so soon it was only we had a friend by the name of curly whom used to come to our house way back
curly; the betting shop you mentioned was apart of the building which was one time my uncles shop [ the beting shops ]
many years ago he also had one in alma street aston; i think they was in the thirtys and fortys i can only presume this walling bought it from charles jelf
whom was known for running unlawful gambling that being the jelfs coffee houses around brum and aston that particular one was where my grt grand dad built and set up there bussines from there and went strengh from strengh with a provision ware houseing next door
that particular betting shop was there private door to there house ; some think i never knew until it was to late
as i went to the house and the coffee house which is all in one by the way the inside was kept from the day it ever opened up
i went there late one night from worcestershire to investigate as we was goijng tobuy the old block ; meanig the whole complex as that building was in our mothers family since the twentys when you go into the bookis door if you like you are in the back of the coffee house and on your left hand side id the betting counter not changed since the twenys beleive me but when i went to investage the property i was told to go away you have undone a can of worms
by the big white house in the city ; but thank you for pointing out the bookies as i know it was there since the twentys and charles jelf with the cafes on alma street
and his booking office i think it was 47 alma street they was at in the twentys or thirtys
sorry curly i have gotto shoot off now but i cannot finish the story for i would be here for ever than a day best wishes astonian;;
