I know Thomas Vann was baptised on 26 Sep 1826 at St Martin. His parents were Joseph Vann and Mary ??? (possible Allen) Could someone see if the baptism has Mary's Last name.

The other option is I wondered if Joseph Vann (Abt 1791) and Mary (possibly Allen) marriage took place at St Martin's. The first child I can find is born 1826 so the marriage must have been between about 1811 and 1825

ive checked the records for you but the baptism doesnt include marys name and i cant see a marriage for them either.

the only extra info on the record is abode moor street and fathers occ. brass founder

dont know if wife mary died because there are other christenings ...

oct 4th 1847 joseph son of joseph and louisa vann b. mar 2 1847 abode looks like anster street and occ. brass founder

also oct 4 1847 george son of joseph and louisa vann b. oct 10 1844, anster st. brass founder

Thank you so much for the quick reply. I can see Joseph Vann in the 1841 census with his children but no wife so it is likely his wife Mary did die. Thomas Vann states his father was a butcher not a Brass Founder on his marriage certificate but as Thomas went on to be a Wire Worker is does seem likely his father was in the same trade. Thank you once again.

ive had another look and found these

joseph son of joseph and mary vann b.9 nov 1822 chr.24 dec 1824 moor street, fishmonger
thomas son of joseph and mary vann b.9 nov 1824 chr. 24 dec 1824 moor st. fishmonger

22 jan 1838 marriage of horatio gaston to jane vann. her father was joseph vann a butcher

9 mar 1845 marriage of thomas vann to sophia allbutt. thomas vann was a wire worker and his father was joseph vann a butcher

the joseph vann on the 1851 census does say born clifton warwickshire and the marriage of joseph vann to mary allen was 13 nov 1809 clifton upon dunsmore warwickshire.

that does seem to be the most likely one to be your joseph

Thank you so much for your help. I was able to find Jane Vann (Gasten) in 1851 living with her husband but also her brother Henry Vann so I believe their father Joseph Vann died between 1841 and 1851 (I found Thomas Vann in the 1841 census with his 4 boys, Thomas, Joseph, John and Henry). I am therefore thinking the family in Cliffton may not be the same family. Also the information about Joseph and Louisa having children I think is Thomas's son Joseph rather than the father Joseph. In the 1861 Census I can find Joseph and Louisa with George but Joseph is 39. This has all been really helpful so thank you again.
