A good selection of the non pictorial cards available at the start of the post card craze, continuing after WW1, but then replaced by the Bamforth comic cards and in the case of the one with the horseshoe on, this fronted many a packet of pull out views. The same cards as above have been issued for many locations and any of the cards by Cynicus who was a Scottish satirist can be found from Penzance to Carlisle. In the days when a postcard with 1/2d stamp on would reach its destination next day, those who were away would regularly send the I'm leaving cards to neighbours and relations to show they were on their way home. The other interesting thing is that Cynicus cards not named cost between £1.50 and £5.00, but with a location on, the sky can be the limit, particularly if it is for a small village.
