I am trying to obtain more information on my relative John Hughes, but have seem to hit a dead end to find his parents in Wellington Salop. So I'm backing up in hopes that one of his sons or daughters relatives may help.

John Hughes (according to census Born 1830? Wellington Salop) Died October 14, 1899 yrs old - Aston Erdington Union Work House, Birmingham "Brewer" 1891 - Yates Street Court 6 No 3, Aston Cross, Birmingham

There is no record of a marriage anywhere:
Wife - Hannah Hiscock (Born 1832-1833 Henley on Thames, Oxfordshire )

Son - George Hughes, born Sept 26, 1862 Middleton Road, Kings Heath

Daughter Annie born 1867 Middleton Road, Kings Heath, Kings Norton, Birmingham

Son Aaron Hughes born Aug 11, 1865 Middleton Road, Kings Heath
Marriages July Aug Sep 1892 Roseannah Richards White ( I am assuming this is him because the 1901 census loses John and Hannah, but a Hannah shows up in this household as a widow)
1901 census
Civil Parish: Birmingham Ecclesiastical parish: St Edward County/Island: Warwickshire Country: EnglandRosehannah Hughes 33Francies Hughes 1 Dora Hughes 4 Harold Hughes 7 Hannah Hughes 67 (Hannah is Mother in law in 1901)

anyone with a connection please respond?

Have you got this information?

1861 Kingsheath,Kings norton,Worcs

John hughes age 30 b. Wellington,Shrops, Labourer
Hannah Hughes age 27 b. Remenham,Berks
John hughes b. Paddington Middx.
If this is the couple did John die in infancy or was he somewhere else in 1871.

Remenham would appear to be on county bounderies because it is today in Oxford but is shown on censii as Berks and Bucks.

1841 Census Remenham Berks.
The surname is indexed HISNETT but when viewed the original is quite clearly HISCOCK

William Hiscock age 38 Agricultural Labourer
Rachel age 38
John 13
Sarah 10
Lucy 9
Hannah 8
George 7
Martha 4
Mary 1

In 1851 Rachel,a widow, is living with her mother Sarah Wise in Remenham
in addition to the children in 1841 there is Aaron age 8,Maria 6,Ann 4.
William Hiscock died in 1845 Henley.
Hannah is living as a servant in Henley on thames.

I cannot find any marriage between Hannah Hiscock/John hughes 1851-1862.

There's a Anna Hiscock married March Lambeth 1857 1d ..77 On FreeBMD
However she is the only one on the page, no male names. Also I think the missing number may be a '5'as the Lambeth marriages seem to be in the 500's. I looked at pages 576 and 578, but no John Hughes
This may be of no use at all, but it was all I could find that might fit.

Yes, I did find that info about a John (JR), and he disappears from this family just like my ggg father George before they were 10 yrs old. I am assuming this family was very poor or John Hughes was abusive (Drinking as a brewer?) I did find a John & George Hughes in a All Saints Birmingham Workhouse Dudley Road. Rumor George joined 1876 The South Staffordshire Regiment.

The only way I know that this family is still my Georges family is the mother's "Hiscock" maiden name is same as the other children (Aaron & Annie) and location (Middleton Road, King Norton) are the same.

I've had lots of help with Hannah Hiscock, but I may never have a marriage cert. She may have been married before or maybe they never married at all.

However, all of this does not get me closer to sources to pin-point John Hughes parents in Wellington. Wellington is such a small area, and there are many Hughes. I was hoping some bit of information in Birmingham may have recorded his exact Birthday and/or Parents names.

Census mostly give Wellington as a birth place, however age differ on them.

Theory: Birth Year was 1830, Birthday was between April 5th (latest Census) and October 14 (Date died).
If Birthday was after the:
1871 April census was taken he would be 40 (shows 40)
1881 April census was taken he would be 50 (shows 48)
1891 April census was taken he would be 60 (shows 60)
1899 Oct death he was 69

Thank you all for your help

Hi Astonian
I think you mean Pattison-Hughes Catering, who seem to have appeared around the time of the first world war. They were once at 9 Bordesley St, before that at 125-6, Moor St, and originally at Albany house, Dalton St. They are now at
Moseley Masonic Hall, Alcester Rd South, Birmingham, West Midlands B14 6DT

No luck with the initials though
