How Long To Train?

I have found my Grandads medal card. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the British Medal, and the 1915 Star. He was in the 8 Bn Oxford and Bucks Light Infantry.

The Bn arrived in France 18 Sep 1915 and on his medal card it states;
Theatre of war first served in, 1. France.
Date of entry therein, 18 Sep 1915

As I cannot find his military records, can anyone give me a clue to how long the boys trained before being sent to France.

In the November of 1915 his Bn moved from France to Macedonia, where he spent the remainder of WWI.

He was 16098 Pte Wells. Hubert. E. 8 Bn O.B.L.I.

Thank you.

barrie.

8th (Service) Battalion (Pioneers)Formed at Oxford, October 1914, as part of K3.
October 1914 : attached as Army Troops to 26th Division.
25 January 1915 : became Pioneer Bn to 26th Division.

He could have volunteered to join the battalion as early as October 1914.
