How do I trace service record ?

I have an Arthur Young with details 61766 Pte., 2 A.M., RAF on the 1918 Absent Voters list.

Firstly, what does the "2 A.M." stand for and, secondly, can I access any data with this information ?

Have you looked on Ancesty/ They have quite a few WW1 service records.

Mrs T, I think the WW1 service records on Ancestry are all for the Army.

A.M. stands for Aircraft Mechanic. I believe the National Archives has info on WW1 RAF service men.

So what does "2 A.M." stand for ? Is that a known unit ?

I've checked Ancestry and they have nothing on the guy.

His rank was Aircraft Mechanic 2nd Class
