Can anyone tell me if 44 yew tree road aston
in 1901 was a womans refuge for mother and child
as my gran is shown in there aged 2 months with mom.
Keith.

Keith, I wouldn't think 44 Yew Tree Road, Aston, was a refuge, my brother-in-law lived at No.38 and it was an ordinary terrace house with bay windows, as was the whole street.

Neither the 1900 or the 1903 directory lists Yew tree road, Aston in their street lists, it only appearing in 1904, though it is not listed in the main directory possibly because it was not then a part of Birmingham. The road first appeared in the main directory between 1904 and 1908. No 44 does not appear in any listing around that time.
