I have no connection to these I saw this on another site and thought it worth posting: Number 320212391216
First World War 1914/15 Star Trio to Pte Oscar Lionel Houghton, 1/8th Royal Warwickshire Regiment, later Railway Operating Department, Royal Engineers. The medals are correctly named, 1914/15 Star to "3312 PTE. O. L. HOUGHTON R. WAR." the British War and Victory Medal to "3312 CPL. O. L. HOUGHTON R. WAR." The 1/8th Royal Warwicks fought with the 48th (South Midland) Division in France, Flanders and Italy. Medals in NEF with some marks of wear.
Sold with 10 pages of Discharge Papers showing that Houghton, a tram conductor, enlisted in Birmingham on 05.11.1914. His home address was given as 112 Highbury Road, Kings Heath, Birmingham He served in France from 22.03.1915 to 15.08.1917 during which time he will have seen service on the Somme and the beginning of Paschendaele. He was attached to the 1/6th Royal Warwicks for a period in July to August 1916 whilst they were engaged in the Battle of the Somme. He was promoted Unpaid L/Cpl 17.08.1916 and Cpl 21.11.1916. On 27.02.1917 he was transferred to the Royal Engineers serving with 61st Broad Gauge Workshop Company, Royal Engineers. He was admitted to hospital with Neurasthenia (Shell shock) in August 1917 and was sent back to UK. He was discharged on 26.10.1917. I suspect he was moved out of the front line to the RE due to the onset of shell shock.
