Does anyone know of the Holt family of Aston? All I know so far is My Great Grandmother was Lilian May Watts (nee Holt). Her parents were Charles & Elizabeth Holt, she had 3 sisters, Violet, Gladys and Sis.
The rumour in our family is that the Holtes of Aston Hall were my ancestors, i have tried everything to trace Lilian but to no avail, They lived on Clarendon St, Aston until Lilian was accidently killed by scaffolding during the redevelopment of Aston Newtown whilst walking through, this was in June 1968.
If anyone has any info then please get in touch.

Thanks Claire and bren, great help. My tree starting to look like a tree now rather than a twig!!

Lisa I knew your g.grandmother, she made the wedding cakes for my two older sisters from what I remember she was a very kind gentle lady. Our family had moved from Aston by 1968 when she was killed, a tragic end for her.

Sylvia, hi there, i cant believe you remember my gran, thats fantastic. Unfortunaltly i didnt get to meet her as she died 10yrs before i was born, my whole family were devastated when she died, they all moved to worcester in 1969 and never went back, it wasnt the same without her i suppose. Whats the name of your family? i will jog the memories of my gang to see if they remember you. Thank you for getting in touch. xx

Lisa, our family name is Wallace and we lived in Copeley Street, my mom & dad Nance and Bill together with my oldest sister Ivy & her husband Howard used to drink in The Clarendon at weekends, I think that is where they met your gran. Is there an Alf in your family? if so I remember him too, I was only a child at the time, but pubs closed at 10 p.m. in those days and quite frequently drinks would be brought back to our house, mom would provide sandwiches and a number of young single men would come back including "Little Alf" and I think his surname was Watts. We had a piano and someone would play. Happy memories.

Sylvia, we didnt have an Alf in our family that i know of, iv asked my family and they dont seem to remember him either. My gran had 2 boys. Henry (also known as Harry) and leonard.
Would you remember the Watts kids in the 50s, Christine was the eldest, she lived with nan in clarendon st for a while and the others were Henry who joined the REME, Shirley Graham and Wendy, they all lived with my gran at some point.

Hi Lisa, sorry I don't remember any of the names you posted, with regards to Alf, I could well have been wrong with his surname, it was over 50 years ago.
