Hi zafria
I am very sorry to have missed your reply to my request on the Hollands family but I must have been in hospital area weeks ago so I can only presume
That's when I missed your reply
It was good news to hear that you knew the Hollands family they was friends of ours every one of them I would certainly love to know where they are now
Its been decades since I last seen them Kathy and ireleen and Ron its been longer since we last of john in fact the last time we heard of john he was living with is parents in king Edwards red as his mom used to go bar my he used to part strip is bike and get it to his bed room he was a great fan of Mario panzer always singihis high pitch just like mario panzer would if he went onto the voice in them days he would have won it
Billy and Phil his younger brother we was all great pals and we had a gang not trouble makers we all associate with each other
Along with a couple of kids from the street I actually got to meet one of the lads through a guy whom is a member of this forum named Ronnie
Langford I spent years looking for Ronnie and through this guy on here gave me his number to ring and lord and behold it was Ronnie
I phoned him up and spoke on the phone and he lives insutton now and I went to visit it I spent hours with him the Hollands family also know Ronnie and his father
Albert Ronnie was one of our gang at the time we was all growing up
Ron told me he last seen billy many years ago he said he came over and took him out in his company van he was a butcher
He had his own premises a whole sale ware house in nelson street Ladywood and had the Birmingham contracts to supply meats to the schools for many years
But I have since learnt that's not the case and Phillip had his own electric contractors business in war stone lane some where
Old bona the sweep bought the pub in steward street after having a major accident at Lucas,s in great king st with his compo money
But then gave it to Kathy or Eileen and Ron to run and of course the mother this was many years back now she was my mothers friend very close especially when my father died she supported her through and through in 1958 I am surprised you knew old Mitch bless her and her shop lovelely old lady
My mate Dave Allen also lived next to Mitch shop and her daughter lil we often
Speak about those days and of course old Mitch there was great family's and friends down there old bono was always in the bell on the corner of stout street also at the college arms it would be great if I could catch up with the lads billy and Phil I can only imagine john would have died by now catch and ireleen and Ron must be getting on now if they have not passed away yet I can presume the two lads are still alive today as they must be getting on in age like us all
Thanks zafferia for contacting us I only I was around when you sent the thread look forward to hearing from you again I hope
Best wishes Alan , astonian from 243 kingedwards red Ladywood

Hi Astonian,

Billy Holland is my wife’s grandad, I stumbled across your post while searching the internet. I’ve shown him and he was over the moon hearing people’s memories of him. Unfortunately his brothers Jonny and Phil passed away recently but Billy is still alive and well.

He’s currently living in Halesowen and if you’d like to get in touch with him I’d be happy to give you his phone number or pass your contact details onto him, I’m sure he’d be very excited to hear from you.

hi debneym if you look under astonians user name it says..gone but not forgotten which sadly denotes that this member has passed away...
