Is anyone able to help me with the Hollins family who were living in the aston area. I have come to a bit of a stand still and any information on anything to do with the Hollins family would be great. Thanks
This side of my family werent very imaginative with their names. My father in law born about 1932 was Joseph Hollins, his father born 1904/5 was Joseph Hollins and his father (who i cant find) was also called Joseph Hollins

There are three possible Joseph Hollins on FreeBMD born around 1870 - 85 one Birmingham and
two were born Aston:

Births Dec 1877 (>99%)
HOLLINS Joseph Thomas Birmingham 6d 150

Births Sep 1880 (>99%)
HOLLINS Joseph Aston 6d 257

Births Jun 1884 (>99%)
Hollins Joseph Aston 6d 375

Hope this helps, although if you gave the names of the ladies that each Joe married it could help with narrowing the field down a wee bit. O0

thanks for that, i dont suppose it will help much but the Joseph born in 1932 was married to a Margaret Wilson, the Joseph born in 1904/5 was married to an Evelyn Cooper and i dont know who the other one was married to and its him that i need to find to go back any further. Can you believe the youngest Joseph my father in law has no idea of the names of his grand parents, thats why its so hard to be sure if i get the right one. Wont it be great when the 1910 census comes on line, then there wouldnt be any problem but i hope i dont have to wait that long to find out about that side of the family.

thanks again for your help

 janine not sure if this is your family !
Are you sure you have the details correct? Are you sure it was the middle Joe b1905 who married an E Cooper and not the one shown here? As the names match in the main and Leek is in Stafford only a stones through from Brum (Years ago parts of Birminham were classed as being in Stafford e:g Ladywood).
If you obtain the certificates of birth or marriages they will have parents names, ages and the address they were living.

Marriages Jun 1901 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Cooper Emily Leek 6b 493
Hollins Joseph Leek 6b 493

Births Mar 1905 (>99%)
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hollins Joseph Leek 6b 351

Again hope this helps and has not caused more confusion for you.

Thanks for that, i need all the help i can get. Ive got Evelyn Coopers fathers name its harry cooper but have no idea of the mothers name, i suppose i will either have to wait for the 1910 census or order the certificate. Ive managed to trace all of my side with out ordering any certificates but this side (my husbands) is proving more difficult....... any way thanks again

I don't think they'd be related to my mum's family, unless any of the Josephs had siblings called Norman Lewis, Thomas Stansfield, Dora or Lucy. (I could be missing one or two there, I don't know much about the Hollins family).

Norman married Ivy Florence Baugh in about 1936.
