Hollingsworths Ironmongers, Handsworth

Hello all,

Trying to find some more details on my Great Grandfather's Ironmongers shop that was located at 220 Rookery Road on the corner of Elmhurst Road.

Look forward to any information or perhaps photos!

The shop is shown in Kellys as Edward Hollingsworth , ironmonger 1903- 1921 (not there 1900)
In 1921 ( but not 1915) next door at 222 was Mrs Florence Hollingsworth , glass & china dealer
In 1932 Edward has moved next door to 222 Rookery road and is listed there till 1946. By 1949 it is Hollinsworth stores, hardware dealers and remains that till 1965, but has changed name to Ewens by 1967.
The electoral rolls show Edward at 220 rookery Road till 1925, but not in 1927, so presumably he left that shop between those dates.
He is listed on the electoral roll at no 222 for 1920-27, but 1930 and after the number is not listed , so presumably they are not living there after that date.

Many thanks mikejee, I wasn't aware Florence had as shop as well.

I know the family moved to Antrobus Road at some point as my father remembers the story of the bombing raids when one came through the roof and ended up down the back of the sofa! :culpability:

Where do you think the best place to look for photos would be?
