not sure what this depot did so i could be on the wrong section of the forum...can easily move it if someone can let me know what kind of depot this was...i am taking it its no longer there..

I think they were originally offices & warehouses for the British Rail Central Goods Depot and later I think I remember them being a corporation works depot and just before they were demolished they were little arts and crafts workshops and sort of indoor market.

You are correct it was the corporation works depot
And all departments operated from there even the road sweepers based there
For employment
When times was desperate in the fifty,s me and our kid went there as a last resort for looking
For work, we used to think nobody wants to do that job
But we was wrong the gaffer of the depot turned around and said sorry guys we have a very long
Wainting list and so with the bin mens job today every body wants to do it
Good money eh
 
Is this the site used for the "new" Register Office?
I used to like the little craft shops Phil mentioned.
