I am currently researching my family name and have had a certain amount of success but am now stuck at Richard Holder circa 1792 and Mary ? possibly Denney 1794 they married march 1812 at St Phillips Birmingham and had the following children Susanna 1817, James 1819, Sarah 1820, Thomas 1822, Ann 1825, Mark 1827, Mathew 1827, Luke 1829, Eliza 1829, and George 1833.

George married Sarah Hill 1835 unsure of DOM children George 1854, Alfred 1857, William 1858, Mathew 1860, Edwin 1865, Harriet 1868, Louisa 1870, Mary 1872,

I am Following George who married Sarah Roberts 1855 unsure of DOM children William 1880, Charles 1881, George 1885, Florence 1887, Alice 1888, Walter 1890, Francis 1894, Beatrice 1897, Olive 1899 and Ernest 1900 (My Grandfather)

If any body out there has any information on this family I would be grateful for it.

would these Holders have anything to do with Roy Holder who lived on Park Lane, who became an actor?
He used to be in my mom's Sunday school class at Park Lane Gospel Hall, and he was picked for a part in the 1960's version of 'Whistle Down the Wind' with Hayley Mills.

"Roy Holder" the actor & Holte End Villa Fan, used to stand just by my Mom,Dad & I under the Holte end score board at many a match in the 60s.
Did he not go to Upper Thomas St School? from which he was plucked in to the acting arena.
I wish you well with your search Stephen.

I am new to the Birmingham History forum and read this 2006 posting on the Holder family.

I am wondering if my Holder family connect as there are names in common.
My g grandmother was Caroline Robinson born 1863 in Birmingham, the daughter of William Robinson & Susannah Holder.
The 1851 Birmingham marriage certificate of William Robinson & Susannah Holder has her a minor and her father John Holder a pearl button maker.
My research indicates that John was the son of Richard Holder & Mary Ann. He was born May 1812 & christened in St Martins Sept 1812

This thread has really made me think as one of my children is an actor/singer. (The parents/ grandparents definately have/had no such talent.:D) Maybe not the same family but it is the first reference I have come across to a family name and the theatre.
