Re: Holbutt Family

Dear Colin
I have just join the Birminghamhistory forum and picked up your posting listed below, Clara Holbutt nee Salter is the daughter of my gg uncle Francis Salter, his sister was Elizabeth Salter she married Jacob Brice, there son was George Pusey Brice is my G Grandfather. I have just downloaded his Marine Posting from National Archives and was intrigued to find he had given his next off kin as his Uncle - Mr Salter of Drury Lane London who worked in the Threatre - I have located Francis on the 1891, 1901 censes and sure enough he is carpenter/labourer in a threatre. George Brice was one of 24 children, most of them died in early childhood, with about 7 of them became adulthood. At one stage George was living in a foster home in Bath, I have a photograph of him there. He is a bit of a mystery, although I know he was a shoe maker, as was his father , he married my g grandmother Elizabeth Tiley in 1895, they had one surviving child my grandmother Mary Ann Brice b1897, around 1899 George went walkabout for about 5 years evenually returning to his family to be nursed, he died from TB in 1904. I am wondering if there is any information we can exchange.:)
Best regards
Ann
