Historic England has over 7000 images relating to Birmingham. These may be used for non-commercial purposes with attribution.

Images can be embedded- but not I think on this forum.
But worth searching for old buildings and locations.

There's a fine photo of the old and now demolished (in 1965) Birmingham and Midland Institute (not the current building). This screenshot gives an impression.
