Re: geneolgy familyname , william hinton
By 1901, Walter Hinton (age 47) was a Brewer's Foreman, living at 185 Cape Hill, Smethwick, with Bertha (14) and housekeeper Harriet (looks like Plimley?) also aged 47.
In 1871, aged 19 Walter Hinton was still with his parents (and siblings), Charles & Ann Hinton at Churchill Gardens, (possibly Chipping Norton).
By 1881 he is married to Catherine Hinton (nee ???) at 51 Queen Street, West Bromwich, and is a Policeman. They have a son, Walter, aged 3, of whom I can find no further mention.
There is a death registered of a Catherine Hinton (born c 1855) in Kings Norton district (see below - this may be Smethwick) in 4th quarter of 1890.
1891 sees Walter Hinton with daughters Beatrice age 7, Edith age 5, and Bertha age 3, at 61 Grove Street, which although in Harborne sub-district of Kings Norton, is actually in Smethwick. Also there are Ted and Anne Hinton, listed as 'Lodgers'.
So Catherine is Bertha's mother, but other than a reference to her birth being "at sea" in the 1881 census, I can find no more about her.
