That must be BRIGHTHAMPTON, see here
she's in the 1871 census as well, as from 'Bathampton' so there's some confusion of the placename.

Re: Ann Hinton

Good morning Lloyed
Hope you are well and feeling fine
just want to say again you are a true gentle man
and one hell of a gem to me and of course to our fellow members
here on this forum
when i got some doc; back from the reg; office
and seen his mother brought the kids up i wondered where she from and now i know
as i can se by the map it is oxford where she comes from
and it appears the jelfs had a lot of influence from oxford
especialy with there connections with the fore fathers of the
jelfs being connected to the legal system
raymond did tell me a long time ago on yhe phone
and thats wht he moved to oxford he wanted to follow the fore fathers and he strived for it ftom a early age
he got married in the same church , and he was a succesful bussiness man and in high ranks of our counter systems
the only thing he hadnt done he said ike the fore fathers
was to join some organised organisation with in aston
which he said the fore fathers was all grand masters of
the society . and he said it was is age ;
because by the time he reached the age the socity gad closed down
but yes ' the fore fathers orinate from oxford area
before moving into worcestershire in the early 1800,s
any way Lloyed i will stop wafflling on
and just a very big thank you; for your valuable time
and giving more information as to where my great grand mother came from
have a nice day best wishes astonian ;;

Re: Ann Hinton

Astonian,your Walters parents Charles and Ann may have married 1848.
I think there is a bit of an error on the BMD records.
On the LDS site a member has submitted a marriage of
Charles Hinton and Hannah Potter on December 24th 1848 in Hardwick,Oxford.Hannahs are often called Ann.
Charles Hinton is registered on BMD
December 1848 Witney reference 16 273
Hardwick is in this registration district.
Hannah Potter marriage Dec 1848 reference 16 273 Witham.
Witham is in Essex and the reference numbed is not an Essex one.
I think this is the marriage of your Walters parents.
It might be an idea to get someone to look up the Oxford marriage records for you if possible.
In 1851 they are in Batsford ,Gloucs

Charles hinton age 24 b. Hardwick Oxford Shepherd
Ann hinton age 29 b. Brighthampton

Re: Ann Hinton

hi Alberta
good morning to you ,nice to hear from you again
and many thanks for informing me of this information
regarding walters parents and the marrige dates .that terrific news
i wil get to work on this straight away
also thanks for letting me know about the name of hannah
i did not know they was call ann i shall have to remember that
on the subject of batsford gloc ;
i do have some records of thembeing registered in batsford
and also in which the document i had received a couple of years ago
which stated that walter was a police oficier in batsford gloc;
and he moved to eversham then to brum asa police officier
as i recall from memory which was in the then the boundrys of
high park rd which in those days was classed as worc;
going bt the years of dates i presume it would have been piddock st ; but saying that it more like it couldhave been central
police station being the main one in brum [ steel house lane ]
whom would have tipped off charles jelf and the brothers
when they was going to be raided for there illegal gambling
being bookies and there gambling machines they was operateing
but getting back on track alberta
as i have said i knew knew they was listed in batsford gloc ;
because of the documemts i had recieved
and it only stated his mother with him and the kids
no father was mentioned
alberta you have made my day for me today
at the moment things aint going to well with in my family
but you have cheered me up and i will get stuck in on this one
have a nice day alberta best wishes astonian ;;
