HILL Rowland Oswald

I am trying to find some info re Rowland Oswald HILL born c1896 Aston , Birmingham.

I cannot trace him in the 1901 census or find any dtls of his parents. I know his father was Albert Edward HILL , profession : Surveyor but I have no idea where Albert was born. This info from Rowland's marriage cert.
Rowland married my great Aunt Violet Mary CROSS on 10th JUL 1919 in Tuddenham St Mary , Suffolk and his profession was : Sergt Royal Field Artillery.

Would love to know if there are any connections still in the Birmingham area as I am originally from Hall Green.

the only one i can see on the 1901 census is willie hill 41, lucy hill 27, ROWLAND O HILL stepson 6 b. bham and samuel h hill 3 mths. also elizabeth hatfield an aunt aged 71. they were living in sheffield.

is this any good???

Probably a different one , but there is an Albert Edward Hill listed in Kellys as landlord of The Gate inn, 183 Icknield St in 1904-1913. He is not there in the 1903 or 1915 editions. In the 1915 edition he is landlord of the Villa Tavern 147 Villa St, b ut had gone from the directory by 1921. He would have been at the Gate during the 1911 census, but I have no sub for that census.
There are 13 Albert Edward Hills on the electoral roll for 1920and 2 in 1912, one of which is at 183 Icknield st (described mysteriously as a “dwelling house” – well he did live there as well as run a pub), and on in Dymoke St. Do you have any idea of the name of Albert’s wife ?

Here is his birth... if you get the cert' it will have quite a few details on it about his parents: Full manes, age , where living... we can then look up both parents for you!
