Hi.

Can anyone help me with any information on the Hill family who lived at 84 & 86 Perrott Street Winson Green about 1914-20. I know that there were at least 4 children in the family, George, Henry, William & Edith. The sons were old enough to go to war at this time. I think that the family originated in Sheffield.

Any information would be gratfully appreciated.

Thanks Allan

In the 1912 electoral roll there are several hills in Perrot St, William at no 86, another William at 71, James at 27 and charles at 97.
In the 1918 roll of absent soldiers there is
86 John Henry Hill (the younger) T/4/243805, Dvr., H.T., A.S.C.
Henry Hill 14295, Pte., 8 Bn., D.C.L.I.
Jones, john Thomas 16037, Cadet, 15th O.C. Bn.
84 William Hill 193321, Dvr., 23 Hvy. Bty., R.G.A

No women would be eligible to vote at that time. Nor anyone under 21.

In 1920 there was William, Clara and Henry at 86 and William at 84
There is also a Caroline and Charles at 97

In 1925 william , clara and henry are at 86 and William and winifred at 84 and Charles and Caroline at 97.
I am not quite sure as to ages women could vote and how it changed over the years,
mike

Thanks for the quick reply Mike. Your information is really great. I didn't know about John Henry. I need to do some more digging.

Thanks again, Regards Allan

Hi Allan,

My great grandfather was Henry Hill PTE 14295.
Recently started researching my grandfathers family and came across this thread.

I didnt reliase Henry had siblings!

I have lots of records of his military documents and his medals as well.

Would be great to hear from you and learn more!

Kind regards,
Rachael
