High Street / Rotunda

ColinB

gone but not forgotten
Photos taken from the roof of the Co-Op building High Street taken by my dad, during the early 80 ?? Judging by the hoarding around the building it was at a time when the store was being modernised.

I think it was later than the sixties as the buses and cars are too modern, i would say it was just as the CO-OP closed it's doors for good and i'm sure someone on here will tell us when that was. I would guess some time in the early eighties. Nice shots!.

In addition to my first comment the Rotunda never had the Coca Cola sign around the top till the Eighties, i liked it with the Coke sign and the time around the top btw.

I guessed at the date based on the time I knew he may have had access to the roof of the building when he was a plumbing contractor, he moved to a maintenance post in 1968, so I must assume he found some way to access the building when it closed. I had also checked that Fleetmaster buses (I think it is) were in Birmingham by 1963.

Alteration :- should have checked out Rotunda building, it wasn't finished until 1965
