Thanks brummy-lad. It makes more sense when seeing the 1950’s map.The earlier version has the square constructed for access prior to further development for industrial use possibly. Although the pathways and bowling green seem to relate to an earlier period.This 1950s map shows the fire station on Highgate Square, I imagine the tower, visible on the 1937 aerial view, was the training tower for the firemen, could be a church tower but seems disproportionately tall.
