Herbert Roonald and John- born 1930's.

I am having trouble finding either birth or death entries for my father's two brothers, Ronald and John. They would most likely have been born between 1930 and 1935 (Parents Sydney John Herbert and Ida Mary Flay) and both died very young. They would have been born probably in the Aston/Small heath area Any help would be most appreciated. Karenanne

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

Thanks Sheera, that was quick! Kenneth is my Father and so I'm pretty sure that John would have been his elder brother. just Ronald (not Roonald - bad typo!) to find now. Think they are buried in Yardley Cemetery near their father but apparently need date of death to look for grave. Don't think either lived past five. Karenanne

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

Thanks Rowan, I originally thought - no, different family. My Grandmother Ida Mary Flay married Sydney John Herbert. However, my mother is sitting here saying the name Fred Horton is really familiar! How intriguing! (I hope I haven't found yet another marriage for her - Iv'e already got 3 husbands!!) Karenanne

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

Karenanne,:D

I have found
John L Herbert died Dec.1933 age 2yrs. 6d 201 Birmingham.

and a Frederick G Horton death in 1931 age 69 in West Brom.

But I can't find a marriage for Ida and Sydney

The mystery deepens.........plenty of marriages for you to delve through if indeed she did marry at all.

I have a great Grandmother who lived with a man by whom she had 8 children but didn't marry him until the last ones were 9 months then she lived with another man and never married him!!

They would have fittedin well in todays society;)

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

theres another marriage for her in 1949 to robert j windsor in bham

to ida m horton or flay! :stare:

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

Yes, it does! Though that Frederick Horton would have been a lot older than my Gran Ida (born 1905) However, I think you might be right about Ida and Sydney not being married. Went to Sydney's grave today and it only says 'beloved son' (of Laura/Ernest) No mention of Ida or my Dad, who would have been two at the time! Mmmm... Thanks loads for your help with John - will go and see if I can find his burial records now. Karenanne

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

You're right, Sheera - she did married Bob Windsor - and Harold Day - and (I've always thought) Sydney herbert - and now maybe also this Fred Horton!!!! Kx

Re: Roonald and John Herbert - born 1930's.

The entry in the register for John L Horton (6d 201 Birmingham) actually gives his age as 0 and is in the 2nd Quarter of 1933(ie April May June).

this marriage proves really that she definitely never married sydney herbert as she is listed as ida m horton or flay on the marriage record :)
