IN THE 40S, wE LIVED IN WINDSOR STREET AND AT THE JUNCTION WITH HENEAGE STREET WAS A YARD (ENTRANCE FOR US NIPPERS WAS UNDER THE GATES ). FLETCHERS OWNED THIS AND THERE THEY KEPT THE OLD TANKS AND MILITARY VEHICLES FROM THE WAR. WE HAD GREAT FUN SWINGING THE TURRETS AROUND AND PLAYING AT WAR GAMES . THE YARD BACKED ONTO HOLTS BREWERY AND WE COULD GET TO THIS BY EDGING ALONG THE CANAL WALL. DANGEROUS? NEVER HEARD OF THE WORD. HAPPY DAYS .!!
