Can someone please help me with my family tree?
In the 1901 census my family are listed as Charles Holt as head, Elizabeth Holt as wife and daughters Lilian Holt and Doris Holt, living in Cumberland Place... My problem is that Doris Holt apperars on 1901 as aged 1 but in 1911 there is so trace of Doris at all but a neice by the name of cissy who is roughly the same age as what doris would of been, Could they be the same person, and if so why would she be a daughter in 1901 and a neice in 1911? I have spoken to my family members and they remember a cissy but have never heard of a doris... Why and how would this happen? And how do i find out if Doris is really Cissy or not?
 
There's a Doris Holt b. 4q 1899 ref 6d 127 Birmingham. Have you got the certificate? Cissy was often used as a nickname but doesn't explain the relationship difference.
 
I dont have the certificate unfortunatly, all i know is that my family are adamant that there was no such person as Doris and that Cissy was Lilians sister..They think that Cissy was called Cecilia but there isnt a record of her at all. Aaaaargh!!!
 
i dont know where doris was in 1911 but she did definitely exist!

she married evan roberts in 1921 aston and the electoral rolls show that in 1935 she and evan are living with charles and elizabeth holt at 40 clarendon st. aston.

the strange thing is that in the 1911 census charles and elizabeth holt say they have been married 14 yrs and have had 3 children and none have died. well they have lily, violet and gladys as their daughters so i wonder why they didnt include doris even if she was staying elsewhere at the time

Is it not possible that Doris passed away before 1911? I do not think it is at all likely that Doris and Cissy are the same person.

i dont think she did old boy as i found her with charles and elizabeth holt in 1935 in the electoral rolls (with her husband evan roberts)
 
Wow, This is so confusing.. Im baffled as to why Doris wasnt included as a daughter and that my family know nothing of her, they all remember cissy though, i need a detective i think to do this work for me.. hahaha
 
Hi there,I think it may be worth the purchase of Doris's Birth Cert to see if Charles and Elizabeth were her parents and/or the purchase of the marriage cert of her and Evan Roberts,which will give you the name of that Doris's father and his occupation.
