Help with date and uniform please

Could anyone please help with putting a date on this pic or what uniform this maybe ..all i know it was taken in India
really need some help on this one

maggie by is hair style and mustach I would say late 19th C, his uniform style and Topi (hat) would suggest Eygypt or Sudan around 1888, but this style of uniform was worn right through the boer war and Dardanelles campaign of the first world war.
