So people from Birmingham are called Brummies?
Well, I was born in Brummen, a village in the east of Holland, so also a kind of Brummie, but I´ve never been in Birmingham, hardly anywhere in Britain.
Anyway, I live in Buenos Aires and while cleaning out an old house I found an old bicycle. Quite old I thought, taking the braking mecanism into account. The fainted but readable label said: Phillips, Birmingham, "Renowned the world over". In short: it needed only new tires and I replaced the rusty chain, and off I went. What a bike! Real quality stuff, it rode perfect after many years (or even decades) being stacked away, forgotten in a corner.
Out of interest I went looking for some more information on Phillips so I landed here. And I thought , why not, inscribe myself in this group, and find out more about the bike, and perhaps about the brummies ;-)
So, now I will look for that thread,,,,
