Hi all......well where do I begin. Having just seen myself on the 'Duran Duran' (Planet Earth) rare Utube video that was filmed at the 'Rum Runner' Club in the early eighties, all my memories came flooding back!!!:Dancedancer01:
Where have all those years gone....and the great music. I must be very sad, as I've kept most of the Clubs flyers, my membership card and Christmas and New Year invites. I can remember going to the Odeon (New Street) where a lot of groups played....Kraftwork, Roxy Music, Depeche Mode, Japan and then going to the Rum Runner to finish off the evening...........FAB!!!

I also went to 'The Jug'......with compere Laurie who's famous catch phrase was- ''lets get back to disco'' after the drag act had finished - I wonder what happenned to him?

I also used to hang out at 'Hosteria Wine Bar' on Hurst Street, just down the road from the weird (well it was then) Kahn and Belle clothes shop. But then when the ohh so trendy wine bar 'laser' show down by the Law Courts.....(which I cant remember the name off) then that was the place to be seen at.

.......any other memories from anyone?

Nigel

Re: Hello 'old' clobbers

Welcome nidge. theres a wealth of threads on Brum Club's, unfortunately its under the "PUB" site.
My thoughts is that it should have its own historic category??, any chance of the moderator's discussing this and giving one of the most popular threads its own home, as it looks like nidge did not find it yet.

Great video Lloyd we seem to suffer a lack of photo's and video's inside our great Brummie clubs during the 60's & 70's. It would be fantastic to see others as brum was always "cutting edge" for style and excitement.
