Trying to trace the B'ham side of my family. Gt.grandfather William Haywood is on the 1901 census, wife Kate (maiden name unknown) I know there were 3 sons, Harold, William (known as Bill, my Grandfather lived in Park Lane) and Harry (believed killed in WW2. Gt. Grandmother died giving birth to twin girls, fate of babies unknown.

Harold had one daughter Hazel.
Bill one daughter Ivy, wife's maiden name Elizabeth Pound.
Harry one son, believed to be named Brian.

Any help, especially with Gt. Grandmothers maiden name would be appreciated. My Mum recalls the names Hipkiss and Mason, but is not sure if they were any realtion.

:D maureen, Could this be who you are looking for? you gave no dates except for 1901 census - These were the only ones that came up with the names you gave (I did look for Catherine and Kathleen etc e.g; 'Kate' too). Hope this of help...

:D maureen there is no problem - I am only to happy to help where I can. I myself have had so many people on this site and other sites, help in finding and tracing my own family history that I enjoy trying to help others in the same way. GOOD LUCK with your search and just a tip, always add as many dates as you can to any research request, even if your not spot on as it helps a tremendous lot in cutting down time frames.  :)

This looks like an old line of discussion but I've only just discoverd this site. Have you got any further information on the Hipkiss links? I'm currently researching my Hipkiss roots in the Birmingham area.

Regards Maureen. my son lives in Brisbane. Will have to talk to Mum about the Hipkiss name, will be seeing her on Sunday. She lived in Park Lane, Aston as a girl and young woman and her memory is quite amazing considering she is in her 80's.

Have just spoken to Mum and she says that her Hipkiss was the name of her Aunt Louisa's second husband.They had a son Joe (who I think was a solicitor). They had a shop in Nechells which they sold and moved to Hansdworth. I remember visiting them as a child and was very impressed with the fact that they had a maid who bought the tea tray in. I was allowed to pull the cord that rang for the maid. I can't be certain and neither can Mum but we both think that the husbands Christian name was Joe also.

Nechells is definately a place of interrest to me as various relatives lived in that part of Birmingham in the 1800's before my immediate line eventually moved to Harborne somewhere around 1900. I haven't found a Joseph Hipkiss in my family tree except for my Gt. Gt. Gt. Grandfather Joseph born in 1805 but there are numerous branches of the family still to search.

I will put some effort in to looking for a younger Joseph.

Glad you like Sydney. I've been here for nearly 10 years. I'm currently discovering all sorts of family history about Birmingham but it is a city that I drove past on the M6 many times in the first 30 or so years of my life but never stopped to visit.

there is a Hipkiss family in Aldridge and their roots are in Birmingham I am helping out with their research I am looking for Harry Hipkiss married a Rose Hazelwood/Hazelworth ? I believe they came from Erdington we are in the early stages with this family
 
Rather that fill the Haywood forum with Hipkiss info I've created a Hipkiss Forum. I have a distant relative Harry Hipkiss in my family tree. Will post info there.

Good luck Bill. I am hoping in the not so distant future I will be able to devote more time to discovering my ancestors. I looked on the Friends Reunited Web Site for the Hipkiss name, but no luck. Have your tried Genes Reunited. I found another of my Mum's cousins through them.

I am using GenesReunited, Ancestory, Rootsweb, FamilySearch, CuriousFox, this site and a few others. Doing my best not to leave any stone unturned. The main geographical centres for my genepool are Warrington, Birmingham and Malvern based on what I have currently found. I have a gt. grandmother from Peterborough but haven't begun to try to trace her yet.
