Looking for info on Harrison's Fruit and Veg shop at 36 Angelina Street, Highgate.

I know it appears in the 1901 Kelly's as someone on here has told me but im interested in any other info that may be around.

I do have a very old photo of the shop that I will be posting on the site shortly.

Paul
It was the 1908 Kellys he was in, the map was about 1910. No mention in 1904 Kellys, but he was still there in 1921. By 1932 and 1933 it was run by Mrs Rose Harrison. By 1940 kellys there was no even no building listed below 60. Note that year of enumeration is about 1 year before publication, so the houses couldn't be bomb damaged.

Hi Mike
Thats fantastic information, thanks. The Jigsaw is slowly coming together.
I know my great grandfather was nearly 80 when he died and that was around 1957.
My father has vivid memories of his grandfather, George, as he was basically raised by him whilst his father (my grandfather) was at war and a POW in Germany but has no recollection of his grandmother.
Interestingly George Harrison's wife was called Rose and would have been born around 1877 but the couple also had an eldest daughter by the name of Rose, born around 1896.
I guess as it was a Mrs Rose Harrison then it must have been my great grandmother but as my great grandfather was still alive in 1932/33 raises the question of what was he doing.

Thanks for all your help.

hi my mothers first husband was william harrison he was drowen with his son george on the river avon the father was george harrison married rose & my mother lived up on top of the shop with bill he was a window cleaner the older daughter rose married mr ollis do you it is a link regards linda

Hi Linda
Yes my father is George Hammond, he had an older sister called Syvlia and a younger sister called Valerie. His dad was Joseph Hammond and his mom Ivy Hammond (maiden name Harrison - youngest daughter of George & Rose who ran the fruit shop)

what is your moms name??

seems like there must be a link :-)

Hi Linda
I spoke with Dad earlier this afternoon and he remembers someone drowning in the family but he couldn't remember who it was.

Have you got an e mail address???

Paul

hi paul don't your dad remember me i am edna yates's sister & yes i have but do not wan't to put it on here have a look on face book for me regards linda

Hi Linda
Dad's memory isnt what is used to be but yes he remembers you.
I remember Edna, she lived in Blake Lane from what I can remember but dad thinks she lives in Wolverhampton now with her daughter.

He also thinks that George who drowned was Edna's brother and he got into difficulty in the water and his father William (Edna's father) dived in to save him but they both drowned??? dont know if that is correct as his memory isnt what it used to be!.

Do you have any other details of the Harrison side of the family??

Thanks

Hi Paul - took me a while to get the hang of the site. my mom (Edna) has been in touch with your Mom (Edna) who will pass my contact details on. I'm sure Mom can help with the Harrison branch and we may have photo's that are of interest. Sue

Sue
Many thanks. Yes mom has passed on your contact details.
I have got quite a bit of info but it would be a great help if your mom could shed any light on some parts of it.
I also have a few photos that I will get copied. I also come across your an uncle of your moms (William George) who served and was killed in WW1 and have managed to get copies of his service record (all 26 pages!!). It is quite interesting to look at together with some other copy documents I managed to get on the internet.

I will copy what I can and forward to you and maybe give you a call sometime next week.

Thanks

Paul

hi paul just read what you said to sue and was pleased to help. could you let me have details of the link r how you got the service records because i have relatives that ere in the forces and i would like to send for their service records. thanks best regards linda.

Linda
you can get copy service records though ancestry website providing you subscribe or through National Archives Website.
Paul

Hi Linda
Go into "Military" on left hand side of the page.
Then type in as many details as you know and it should throw up people who match the details. Do you have service numbers or anything??? Are you looking for someone from WW1 or WW2?
If you want then tell me what you know and I will see what I can find for you and post on here.
