I wonder if anyone can help. I am new to this site, so I am hoping there is someone out there with some advice.
My Great Grandfather Isaac Harrison lived in the St. Martins area of Birmingham which is shown on the 1871 census. His wife is shown as Sarah (nee Reed - my Great Grandmother), who I understand is his second, or maybe his third, wife. His first wife died in 1855 in childbirth, but on the 1861 census he is shown as head (not widower) with no mention of a wife. Therefore, sometime after 1855 you would suppose he had remarried, as there was a son born around 1858.
I am unable to find a marriage at all for Isaac Harrison and Sarah Reed even though Sarah shows up on all the following census's as his wife.
Of course, it may be they didn't marry - but I wondered if there is anyone who has the opportunity to look at Parish Records.
Isaac was born in Birmingham and christened at a Wesleyan Church I understand. Could this make any difference?
I would be eternally grateful for any suggestions. I have spent many hours searching the various sites on line. As I no longer live in Birmingham, I am not able to physically search the parish records myself.
Here's hoping.
