I am having real problems finding my grandfather - Thomas Edward Harris born in Birmingham during 1901/02. I know that his father is Charles Henry Harris and I have found him on the 1911 census but there is no mention of my grandfather on it.
Can anyone help????
Kind Regards
Ann:)

just a guess but there is this one on the 1911

samuel john shovell 45 bamboo worker b. lambeth london
rosina shovell 36 b. bham
arthur harris 15 (SON TO WIFE) pearcer b. bham
thomas harris 10 (SON TO WIFE) b. bham
cristofer shovell 4
charles shovell 3
albert shovell 1 all b.bham. they were living 6 court 44 brearley st. bham

then i checked marriages and found rosina HARRIS married samuel john shovell in 1906 bham. so i presume this is your grandfather and your great grandmother who remarried a shovell

First of all - thank you both :)
I have had another look at his marriage certificate to Rose Jewkes. Thomas Edward Harris occupation is a Railway Porter and was 28 when he married. His father is down as Charles Henry Harris (deceased) and was a Brass Worker. Unfotunately I have been unable to find a death certificate for Charles.
I have contacted one of my dad's sisters and she makes no mention of her grandmother re-marrying.
I have asked my dad again about his father but he knows very little about his fathers background.

On the 1911 census he is living at 109 Foremans Road, Sparkhill, Birmingham and he is a Brass polisher and his wife name is Elizabeth.

This could be Charles Henry's death cert details, going by his age in 1911
Deaths Dec 1918
Harris Charles H aged 42 Aston vol 6d page 699

Looking in detail at that census return for 1911,Charles and Elizabeth state they have had 5 children born all are still alive.
They appear to have all 5 with them on the census night,Ida May,Henry,John,Albert Edward, and Charles Henry
This could be the marriage details for this couple?
Marriages Jun 1900
Charles Henry Harris Birmingham 6d 114
Elizabeth Hobday Birmingham 6d 114

Is this Thomas's birth reg details?
Births Sep 1900
Thomas Edward Harris Aston vol 6d page 219

"Is this Thomas's birth reg details?
Births Sep 1900
Thomas Edward Harris Aston vol 6d page 219" No sorry ordered that one and it has the father as Arthur William and the mother as Rosina

Unfortunately 'Thomas Edward Harris' is a very very popular and most of em seem to have been born around the early 1900's!!! I have asked my Aunt if she could ask the rest of the family if they have any more info but they dont seem to know much about his early life or his parents.
Thanks for the info on Charles Henry.

You may have already tried these, but just in case you haven't,I thought I'd post them!
