Harris Rosannah

master brummie
I am trying to find the birth of my g.grandmother Rosannah Harris, when she married Henry Daley (Daly) on 8th December 1856 she gave her age as 19 and her father's name as William Harris, but when she remarried in 1885 she gave her father's name as John. I have a possible birth 16th February 1838 christening 11th March 1838 St. Thomas, Dudley, father William mother Elizabeth.

On the 1851 census I find a Rosanna aged 10 with her father JOHN a widower living at 5 Holy Austin Rock, Kinver, he is 43 and says born Stourbridge, and Rosannah born Birmingham. I have been going round in
circles, so any help would be appreciated.

Re: Rosannah Harris

Hi Sylvia I found this one in 1941:
Place: Birmingham -Warwickshire
Civil Parish: B'ham (St Mary)
Address: Silver St
Surname First name(s) Sex Age Occupation Where Born
CHILLINGSWORTH Benjamin M 63 Besom Maker Outside Census County (1841)
CHILLINGSWORTH Ann F 32 Outside Census County (1841)
CHILLINGSWORTH Jane F 7 Warwickshire
HARRIS John M 32 Nailer Outside Census County (1841)
HARRIS Mary F 32 Outside Census County (1841)
HARRIS Rosannah F 16m Warwickshire
HARRIS Eliza F 8 Outside Census County (1841)

Hope it helps, maybe the other family they are with may ring a bells.

Re: Rosannah Harris

Pom, thanks very much for the look up, they say two pairs of eyes are better than one. I would say this is the right family, on the 1851 John Harris' occupation is a Besom Maker, so I will look into the Chillingsworth side to see if Benjamin is John's father in law. I also have a copy birth certificate of Rosannah and Henry Daley's first child born at 4 Silver Street, so it seems to fit.

i was born harris in1945 but adopted i have my birth certificate my mothers name was ivy it says harris nee harris on the certificate she was about 21 years old .i was born at 77 dudley road .any ideas please .

There is an Ivy A Harris born 1924. Registered in Birmingham Sept Qtr. Mothers maiden name Sheppard.

Barrie.

Jean ann, they were saying that her present name was Harris and she was born Harris, the registrars way of saying that she was unmarried.
I have checked marriages Eng/Wales between 1935- 1945 no Ivy Harris to a Harris.
