Harris/Green/Minchin/Reading

Hi

None of your names are in my family tree, but in the 30/40's my mother had a friend called ? Minchin. I can't at this minute remember her first name, but I thnk she married a coal merchant called Alf Drury. Ring any bells?

Maybe!

Hello Di...to be honest at this stage I have only been able to get the Minchin family up to the 1901 census,so it is possible that the Minchin you remember IS one of my lot but I wouldn't know for sure...there seems to be an awful lot of them and they didn't move far away from Garrison Lane.

Hi I have cousins in Australia who were born in Aston and their father was Leonard Minchin he was married 3 times 1939 to Gertrude May Minchin, 1955 to Phoebe Preen and had 5 children and afterwards in Australia to someone called Barbara. His family came from the Aston area had a sister Ivy and a brother James who died young and others. Any informaton on this family would be appreciated. Angela.

My mum remembers a family called Minchin but they lived in the Highgate/Balsall Heath area.

Redding - my nan and grandad were Redding. Elsie and Allen. They lived in Flodgate Street then moved to St Martins Flats.

Is this the Redding you are looking for? I have more info as I'm doing my family tree for Hanson\Redding\Jobbins\Guest.

Look forward to hearing from you.:)

Hello Angela,
I believe that Leonard is part of my family tree, he was a cousin of my gtgrandmother Jemima Minchin/Green. His father, William, was living at 57 Millward Street on the 1911 census. He was living with his Mother & siblings Mary & brother James, plus the children of James. Happy to share my info on the very large Minchin family if this is of interest to you.? Margaret.

Hello Christina,
The Redding family in my tree came from Haselor...William & Elizabeth Redding...do these names ring a bell ??

Margaret.

Hi Margaret

Just checked with my mum and she says she had a Uncle Bill and Aunt Lizzie, they lived in Summer Lane. Uncle Bill was my Grandad's brother, so my Great Uncle. He also had a son who was also called Billy.

Still working on the family tree, so will get back to you. It may be that are in the same family tree.

Regards

Chris

Hi Margaret, thanks for the reply. Do you have Leonard born 1917 marrying a Gertrude May Sims in 1939 and do you know of a child of this marriage. You help is much appreciated. Angela.

Hello Angela,
I only know the Minchin's from my research, I cannot help with any up to date info about Leonard.....I have been asked in the past if I was the daughter of Leonard, but my connection with him is through my gtgrandmother who was a cousin of Leonard's father William....sorry I cannot be of more help in your search. I am assuming that you have looked for Minchin births after 1939 in the hope of finding one that matches with the mother's maiden name of SIMS ???

Margaret.

I knew the Redding family who lived at No 3 Tilton Road they had two daughters. Ann the eldest girl married Peter Whale the younger sister's name was Muriel.
