Harris Family Search

Boatwoman

knowlegable brummie
I am trying to find out information on the Harris family and Particularly my Grand father.
Joseph Harris was born 8 Jan 1910 • 99 Dudley Road, Birmingham (Birmingham Workhouse Infirmary). Joseph was born in the infirmary part of the Birmingham Workhouse in Dudley Road. His birth was registered by a T.M. Hardie who was the Master of the Infirmary at that time. It is said he had Irish Ancestors and that he had lived at 163 Prescott Street (Aston District), Birmingham.

He was married to Doris May Owen who was born about 1904 in Birmingham.
Josephs father was William John George Harris and his mother was Rose Ellen Stamford or Stanfield.
Joseph and Doris had three children, my mother Janet Margaret, my aunt Joan and my uncle Johnathan. I am not in touch with any of them. I know my Nan Doris died around 2004.

OCCUPATION: 1935 - Aluminium Spinner CENSUS NOTES: 1911 - Living with parents and siblings at 7 Thimble Mill Lane, Aston Manor, Birmingham.

At the time of his marriage to Doris Owen his residence was stated as 2 Devonshire Place, Alfred Street, Aston, Birmingham.

More About JOSEPH HARRIS: Military service: WORLD WAR 2: Warrant Officer Class 1 RSM. Served in the 8th Army under Montgomery. [1]

If anyone could help I would appreciate it, because I would love to know what happened to my grandfather. I only ever met him once and he had split from my grandmother. I wonder what became of him, because I was told he came back from the war disturbed and that is why they split.

I would appreciate any help.

The death certificate will give you the name of the person registering the death and their relationship to the deceased and also possibly an address which might lead to something on the electoral rolls.

Harris is just too common to make any reasonable guesses about family with the info available.

Many thanks Master Brummie. It is all a bit of a long shot, because the family are not in touch, but just want to know about him. I will see if I can get his death certificate.
