I'am trying to find out about Alfred Charles Harpers Business he was making Barometers at 239 lozells road Birmingham in abt 1881.

There seem to be two separate Alfred Harpers here, the first is the barometer maker, the firm later going on to other things. Details of that firm are below:
1876 -78 Harper & Hooper, manufacturers of all kinds of barometers,
thermometers & spirit levels, water gauges., wire gauze eye protectors etc. 82½ Brearley street
1879 – 84 Harper Alfred, manufacturer of barometers, thermometers & spirit
levels, 4 St. George's terrace, Brearley street west
1888 - 1905 Harper Alfred, manufacturer of barometers, thermometers & spirit levels, 42 Warstone lane
1908 Harper Alfred & Sons Ltd, manufacturer of barometers, thermometers & spirit levels, 42 Warstone lane
1912 - 15 Harper Alfred & Sons Ltd, manufacturer of barometers. Ellis St
1921 - 40 Harper Alfred & Sons Ltd. photo frame manufacturers, 27 Ellis street.
1943 Harper (Birmingham 1939) Ltd. photo frame manfs 27 Ellis street
1944 - 56 Harper (Birmingham 1939) Ltd. spirit level mfrs, 27 Ellis street
1962 . no sign
The 1881 census lists him as living with his family at the St Georges terrace address above
At 239 Lozells road there appears to be a different Alfred Harper, cab driver. I have given details of his and related ( some possibly the same ) people below:
1876 - 82 Harper James Alfred, 3 Clarence place, Heathfield road, Handsworth
1879 Harper Charles, cab proprietor, Aston villa, Lozells road (This is what is later called 239)
1880 - 82 Harper Alfred, cab proprietor, 239 Lozells road
1883-84 Harper James Alfred, cab proprietor, 239 Lozells road
1888 - 90 Harper Alfred, cab proprietor,24 Heathfield rd.Handsworth
