Harp Club Walford Road Anybody remember it?

Used to work at the Embassy in Walford Road in the early 1970's whrn it was Zetters Bingo...after the bingo had shut, Derek the manager sometimes used to take us out for a beer.

The Harp Club just over the road was usually first port of call...could get a bit wild in there sometimes, then there was that Key Club in the courtyard just on the other side of the road to the Mermaid. We even went into (I think it was called) The Belvedere Club - the one with the string of coloured pygmy bulbs outside - that was on the same side of Stratford Road as Grantham Road, just a bit further up. That was one of the "knock the door" and a little panel slid back jobs....an "interesting" clientelle.

Ah, the joys of a misspent youth....

They tried to use the name 'Sloopys,' but were ordered to remove signage in that name and on any documents.
