Hello All

I am currently researching my family history and wondered if any of you could help me out.

My mother had a memory of her Uncle being killed whilst in the fire service during the war, and whilst she thought this may have been in Coventry, she couldn't remember any further details. A local family researcher has managed to find an entry in the Commonwealth War Graves Commission ledger for may Great Uncle having died following the bombing of St Gabriel's church in Digbeth on the 4th December 1940 (which appears to have been next to the canal basin and was presumably the reason for the bombing there). His address is listed as Hardwick Street, Yardley, and I am now hoping to locate his grave.

He was born in 1909 and was married to H[ilda] M Would (whose maiden name may have been Rafferty)
His parents were Walter and Beatrice Would (nee Temperton - hence the middle name) who lived in Chesterfield but were originally from Hull.

As Hardwick Street is fairly close to Yardly cemetery, I was proposing to start looking there, but wondered if anyone had any advise as to where the likeliest location would be.

Sorry if that's a bit rambling - any help would be greatly appreciated

Regards
Rob

Sorry Sue

Thought I'd already replied to this. Bit of a technophobe I'm afraid.

Thanks very much for your help. Mum has fond memories of her Uncle (although she was only 7 when he died), and is pleased that he is commemorated.

Thanks again
Rob
