hi lynn
first of all am i right in saying the yew tree we was speaking about
was on the island at witton ? and it laid back off the rd
because i can recall a gaffer there ,whom was a tall slim guy and he
drove a little 4x4 car i cannot just recall his name at the moment
but he got the sack for breaking all the rules of the trade
by giving is ale away on the tick , [never never] to a certain click
this would have been around the seventies, in fact loads of people
and they was all on the dole in receipts of there giros
as it was in them days given ,
and also this crew also used to use the aston hotel
across the rd and every lunch time these guys would come to the
aston and hand over there giro,s to the gaffer for there credits
so they could get another weeks ale,
but the poor man as he was silly ,stood the three card trick
and it cost him is lively hood and his job
i may add this was long before the present day owners ,as i know them
personally at the aston hotel
thats my memories of knowledge of those pubs
incidently ; did you enjoy your day at webbs ,?,
did you buy plants or the christmas deco,
they are fantascic are,nt they ? ,
i shall be popping along myself this week to get my winter plants
and i dare say i will have to take the old dutchess to get her
christmas deco,s like every year for the last decade
speak to you again lynn best wishes astonion ;;;
