Clarkie Harding St was renamed Moorsom St betweem 1884 and 1888. The pub at no 14 became no 42 Moorsom st. there doesn’t seem to be any other licensed premises in the street around 1870- 1890. It was a beerhouse, ie it did not sell spirits. None of the censuses list the name of the pub, and the 1861 and 1881 do not list it as a pub, though directories list it as a beer retailer or similar. Presumably secondary occupation of the wife was not considered worth including. Landlords 1849 and before, there are several retail brewers in Harding St, but none at no 14. In 1841 it is listed as being occupied by a cowkeeper. 1851-1855 Mrs Mary Ann Boaz, 1858 Edward Ward Forrester. 1862 William Mann. 1868-1873 charles norton 1876-1903 william gimbert 1904 George Taylor 1905 Henry Coates shopkeeper no pub I cannot determine the exact position of the pub, but it was on the north side of the street on the part that is no longer Moorsom st between summer lane and newtown row, approximately where chilwell croft now ends. On the 1890 map it is probably either the building marked in red or one or two buildings to the right of it. mike
