Looking for a family called Hardiman of Nechells for my friend.

Both would be good please if you dont mind. They had about 16 children and my boyfriend is one of their grandchildren but im trying to trace the history for him and his brothers and their children as they reckon they may have some Irish somewhere along the line.
Many thanks and any info would be a good start.

hi mary rose
one or two of them when young that being the harimans went to steward street school lady wood one of the olders was a patrick
this is i presume the younger generation and they came from ireland and irsh desent in the early years around the forties and even the early fifties
and they lived in st marks street laywood the big st marks st i call it the big st marks st because i lived in kingedwards rd and the st marks st in those days was split intotwo halfs and the bottom end of st marks was by the church and the rd was shorter and it took you on to summer hill around that time for some reason alot of the irish familys started off in st marks street along with the sloyes like cummingham there was alot of irish famiy stuck together down there and i knew this family especial paddy and the associates
i beleive there is a hardiman family living in west heath i beleive today in birmingham i myself happen to be married to an irish family whom the father was well known but he died afew years back now but the family is still reconised and they started off in st marks street when coming over from ireland
still i hope this little bit of info; may help you trace the rest best wishes astonian

Hi Mary Rose
I lived in Rocky Lane Nechells in the 1950's when I was a teenager and knew the Hardiman family just from serving in Mrs Hunphreys shop and delivering the ocassional groceries to the house and I particularly remember Johnny who was deaf and dumb.

I hope I can mention this on this site , but there is a thread on another Birmingham site about the Hardimans and some posters there seem to have known the family as friends at school I think so you may be able to find out more from them.
