Hancocks Shop lookup

Can you help me once again? My grandmother and family ran a general store in Ladywood, Birmingham latter half of the 1920's or early 1930's. Their name was Hancocks the last address I have for them is 155 Sherborne Street this is from my mothers birth certificate 1917, I have no other address until they moved to Reservoir Rd Selly Oak, in the 1930's. I would appreciate any information.

Not quite what you want i;m afraid. Could only look at these 2 years and 1921

1932 and 1933
Hancocks Jas. greengro. 96 Crabtree rd
Hancock Emma Florence (Mrs.), pastrycook, 186 Icknield Port rd

Mike

Electoral rolls give:
Absent voter in 1918 Herbert Hancox (note this spelling used throughout)
2 back of 155 Sherborne Street. Army details '41160 1st North Staffs'
Herbert, and Annie Laura Hancox are there 1920/25.
They are not mentioned in 1930, but Herbert and Annie Hancox are at 182 Reservoir road Selly Oak 1935/39

LLoyd thank you so much for that information, I don't know how you do it . At least I know they must have had the shop between the years 1925 and 1935. Can you tell me how to go about finding where it could have been, I don't live in Birmingham now,so I have to rely on the internet or very helpful people like yourself to steer me in the right direction. Thank you for the war record information can you tell me which web site to go on to find out more information? I don't want to push you too
far as you have helped me so much already.

Thanks to Mikejee for trying to help.

Jill:)

Re Herbert Hancox. South Staffs

Lloyd.

Can you help me a little bit more with my grandfathers WW1 record.

I joined Ancestry as you suggested but I keep coming up with the information you gave me and nothing more, what am I doing wrong?

All I do is diligently search, trying options one after another.
What was your mother's full name? What was her mother (Annie Laura Hancox)'s maiden name and/or date of marriage? I'll try another search, but really need a bit more information.
Herbert's WW1 medals card (doubtful if there is any other record, he wouldn't get a pension so there's no pension record) came easily because his unit name and army number was on the 'absent voter' list of 1918, (the youngest he could be then is 20 so born 1898 or earlier) and he wasn't awarded the 1914 0r 1915 Star medal, so he wasn't 'in' action until 1916 at the earliest (which again looks like 1897-8 birth).
Do you know where Herbert was born? The only birth which shows up on freebmd is Herbert John Hancox, born 2nd quarter 1896 in Basford, Derbyshire/Nottinghamshire district (For a list of places in that district click here).
As fro the shop, I don't have Kellys' directories, perhaps someone else could look up for you - c1917/8, Herbert Hancox's 'general store'.

Sorry Lloyd I wasn't asking you to search for me, I have all my families details, I was just stuck with the war records and thought perhaps I was looking in the wrong place, but now you have told me there probably aren't anymore I'll be satisfied with what I have.
