Hall of Memory Gardens

The gardens barely changed over the years. Pretty much a grassed area edged with straight borders. In the second image the Jubilee Fountain set into the lawn commemorated the Elan Valley Water Supply Scheme. The Fountain was installed in 1954. Pity it had to go. Viv.

Looking at this photo, which is just a few years after the Victory Parade(s), shows what an advantageous spot my Nanny chose to watch the parade. It was slightly elevated - ideal for a youngster - and most likely less crowded than New Street or wherever the procession went after Broad Street.
