Hi there. I have had a good look around the site and i think it is an incredible resource, many thanks to all the contributors.
I wonder if anyone can come up with any more information on any of my ancestors or the paths that their regiments or battalions took. They were all born in Birmingham. I just recently discovered the following:
My grandfather was Albert Alfred Hack 1885-1938. I found this information so far:
Royal Warwickshire Regiment, 5th Battn. Reg no. 5068. Private. Enlisted 23/10/1915 (action in France and Flanders) Discharge - sickness 25/08/1916
His older brother was Frederick William Hack b.1878.
Army Ordnance Corps
Regiment No: 031549
Rank: Private
1914-1920 WO 372/8 Roll – RAOC/101 B(in superscript)36 Page 4015
His younger brother was Henry Arthur Hack. b.1890
Royal Engineers Inland Water Transport Section, aged 26.
1917 - carpenter in Army
Discharged 1919 or 20 aged 29
1916 - raised to the very superior pay rate of engineer.
Now that I have put all this down, it seems I have a lot of information already, so, maybe it's hoping for too much to get any more. However, if anyone can shed any light at all, and of course if you believe you may be related to any of these people, please let me know.
Many thanks in advance, Anthony Hack (Anton)
