Saw a picure of Stratford Rd Sparkbrook from 1960s -it shows H Wright &Sons and The Elms Assembly Rooms - can anyone pinpoint exact location and any other info plese?
Tali
H Wright & Son (Bakers) were at 456 Stratford road in 1956. They were no longer there in 1962, by then only having their Walford road branch. The Elms assembly rooms were listed between this and no 458, but not numbered , indicating that possibly the assembly rooms were set back. No 458 were on the corner od Inglewood road. Looking at google earth , Streetview peculiarly misses out that short length of Stratford road, but it looks like modern buildings are now there. No 456 was not there in 1903, but I have marked its approximate position on the attached 1903 map

mikejee -Thanks never had guessed it was there.
Streetview has inexplicably poor coverage of Brum in general -every other city is catered for- don't know why this is so
