I am looking for the family of James Guise & Elizabeth Clatworthy. Their eldest son William Guise was convicted at the Warwick assizes and sent to Tasmania in 1824.

I believe he had two brothers and two sisters named James, John George, Ann and Maria. But I can't find any trace of them in the 1841 or 1851 census. Nor do they seem to have sensible matches on the National Burial Index so presume they may have emigrated - just can't find where.

There is a chance his sister Maria married a James Massey about 1831 but he too was convicted and sent to NSW.

I do not think we are connected to the Worcestershire Guise family as James & Elizabeth married in Bristol and their children were all baptised at St Philips 1807 - 1814.

i presume youve seen the james guise on the 1841 census living snow hill and born 1816 in county?

and in 1851 theres a james "gise" age 40 born in bham with his wife ann. any good?

theres also a maria messey (but should be massey) aged 40 in 1841 living frederick st. bham and a maria mossey aged 20 living in sutton coldfield, also in 1841
