Some time in the dark distant past my mother worked in a pub in Grosvenor Rd (the pub backed onto Lovers Walk). Anyone tell me the name of the pub and can anyone provide a photo.

I think the pub may have been the Grosvenor Arms PH. I'll have a look for a photo.

I am almost sure it was the Grosvenor Arms. My cousin got me my first illicit 1/2 pint bitter from in there ( I waited outside) when I was about 16. We were on our way to the Villa to watch a 1/4 final match (Villa wasn't playing seem to rememer Sheffield (U or W?) v ? so would have been about 1967.

According to Kelly's the Grosvenor Arms was the only public house in Grosvenor Rd in the 1950's . As of yet I am still unable to find a photo.

Hi Astonian.
I've checked with my mom and she tells me she worked there about 1963 to 1965. With your memory, you may well remember her. Her name is Rita and she worked the lunchtime session with an old gay barman that everyone called Cecil.

The pub in question WAS the Grosvener Arms, my Dads local in the 1950s run by Jimmy Leach, ex Villa player, if you bought him a drink he would show you his FA cup medal he won in the 1920s, a rather tatty pub I think it had a blue brick covered yard at the back leading to Lovers Walk by Aston Station but popular for all that, we lived in nearby Queens Road at the time Eric
